Over 40 years in the Landscape business have gained me much to share with clients’ wanting creative problem solving, practical, enjoyable and beautiful landscaping improvements. 21 awards won for my designed projects to date and whether you want an award winning project or a specific need, my goal is your total satisfaction.
My passion for gardens was developed as a landscape design student at BYU-Idaho. After gaining hands on landscape experience in Idaho and Washington I and graduated from BYU-Idaho with a 4 year degree in Ornamental Horticulture. Upon graduation I went right to work as a landscape designer for a leading Design/Build firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Five years later my wife and I decided to move our little family to Portland to join the Dennis’ 7 Dees team.
My design philosophy is simple. It revolves around my clients needs & wants. I add touches from my experience they may have not thought of or thought possible & temper them both with details to make their new garden as functional as it is beautiful. I achieve this end through open conversation & listening to the needs of my clients all the while offering suggestions from my experience. I feel designers often get too wrapped up in making their own creation. Instead, my goal is to make my client’s creation using the tools I bring to them to achieve the result they have always been looking for. I take joy in all types of design from ultra-modern to traditional Japanese. My clients are as diverse as the styles you see, it's my job to look beyond boundaries and find what matches their needs and wants best.
I have been a part of the landscape industry for over 25 years. I began as a concrete paver installer. In that time, I became a nationally certified paver installer, permeable paver installer and a nationally certified segmental retaining wall installer.
Though most of my background is in “hardscaping”, I’ve always had a vision of how the entire landscape will develop into a balance of function and aesthetics. I believe that the space should dictate the design based on wants, needs and budget. The remaining space should speak to you on its use of form, balance and style. Ultimately, your outdoor space should be an extension of you.
Focusing on coastal landscapes and implementing fresh innovative ideas, I can help create a landscape that is truly unique and tailored to fit your needs on the North Oregon Coast. By using cohesive design principles to create a landscape that works in harmony with your existing living space and understanding the unique challenges of coastal design, I am truly able to bring a new vision, and new use, to your outdoor space. With a strong commitment to sustainable construction and innovative design and construction techniques, the landscape I will create for you will truly be a unique, comfortable and relaxing space to enjoy. With over 15 years combined construction and design experience, I am well prepared to help you tackle even the most challenging projects.
I have had lifelong exposure and a keen interest in landscaping, as well as longtime experience. Over the years I have gained experience in maintenance, was a construction foreman, have worked as a landscaper and in nurseries throughout most of my life. I'm proud to be a third generation landscape designer.
My goal is to transform your dream into reality through imagination, innovation and experience, no matter how large or small the size of your project. I look forward to working with you to create the best possible outcome that fits you, your needs, and your budget.
As a designer I take pride in educating and introducing people to a new world that they potentially have never been exposed to. My goal is to ensure that your landscape is not only a reflection of good planning & design, but a reflection of yourself as well. There is nothing like helping people transform their properties from the place they live into the place they call home.
Landscape design has been a passion of mine since I was 14 years old. I started with my parents landscape, mowing lawns and working with small home town landscape companies and decided this was the life for me! I graduated with a Bachelors in Horticulture, design & contracting. It is true what they say, “if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life!”
Having grown up in the industry, I have been exposed to landscape design & construction all my life. Going out to get a degree in horticulture with a concentration in landscape design was an easy choice to make. With a wide array of ideas, themes, and solutions, I am able to transform an outdoor space into a living sanctuary. Together with the client, I enjoy creating landscapes that entice homeowners to get outside onto their own property, and enjoy this extension of their home. Your landscape should be a representation of who you are as a person. Let’s go build something.
