Water Lettuce (Pistia stratoides)

Water Lettuce (Pistia stratoides)

A floating aquatic plant with velvety leaves that resemble small heads of lettuce about 4” wide. Plants suspended in water and not rooted into soil get their nutrients from the pond water while they provide shade and oxygen to the pond itself.

Care: Grows in sun or part shade, spreads quickly with runners. Easy care but not frost-hardy (zones 9-11), treat as annual.
