There are a handful of ornamental flowering Cherry cultivars used regularly here in the Pacific Northwest including Prunus serrulata – Oriental Cherry, Prunus sargentii - Sargent’s Cherry, Prunus x yedoensis - Yoshino Cherry and Prunus subhirtella - Higan Cherry.
These beautiful cultivars range in heights from 12’ to 35’ and provide us with phenomenal flower displays of pink and white ranging from early to late spring. You’ll find everything from elegant weepers to heavily rounded canopies and compact columnar varieties for that tight space. These sun loving trees prefer well drained soil and some cultivars will produce scented blooms.Care
