Garden Classes & Workshops

Grow your gardening knowledge with Dennis’ 7 Dees! Our five garden centers in SE Portland, Lake Oswego, Cedar Hills, Seaside, and Bethany, OR offer free seminars and hands-on workshops every week throughout the year to help you succeed in your garden. Whether you’re first trying out your green thumb or are a seasoned gardener, our classes and events will give you lots of great ideas and unique ways to express your creativity.

At Dennis’ 7 Dees, we have a passion for plants, and we want to share it with our friendly neighbors and communities. From learning how to care for roses to growing your own edible garden and everything in between, you’re sure to find something fun and educational for you and your family.

Miniature Gardening Workshop

This hands-on workshop will include a selection of containers, appropriate small outdoor plants to use, mini-landscape design ideas as well as care and maintenance for your creation. There is a $35 registration fee to reserve your spot; registration fee applies toward material purchases on the day of the class.

A bouquet of fresh-cut flowers can brighten up any room and make the ordinary seem special however constantly purchasing store-bought flowers can take a toll on one’s budget. In addition to their high cost, most flowers on the market today are imported, mass-produced and usually not sustainably grown. Our class will cover some of the best cut flowers to be grown at home throughout the seasons and ways to add interest and texture to bouquets while keeping things fresh and looking their best.

Meet Instructor Nicole Forbes

Nicole has lived & gardened in Portland for more than 20 years and started working for Dennis Seven Dees in the late 1990s. She has experience in nearly every retail garden center job position that exists but has found her niche in teaching gardening classes and hosting events like our Annual Tomato Tasting. Nicole's love of plants and people is evident in her fun and energetic teaching style. She also writes many of our blog articles and helps with employee training at the garden centers.
