Though extremely small in size, the homeowners demanded the absolute most out of this tiny site. We included such unique and custom features into this miniature landscape, that it’s cost was equivalent to sites 10 times as large. The challenge was to enhance the small front yard and create an intimate and interesting private garden retreat in the backyard in just under 1,000 square feet. The owners were only interested in the highest quality materials and craftsmanship, just like their home. They desperately wanted a water feature with fish, but space and filtration requirements were a real concern. The eventual design fit the yard dimensions beautifully, all while incorporating the necessary deep reservoir and intricate filtration system to keep very large Koi happy, healthy and safe from predators. The water feature/aquarium also uses 5 custom fabricated copper nozzles to assist aerating the water while helping to drown out nearby street noise. Other custom features included a double sided mortar and brick wall for a privacy/sound barrier and an elegant hand tooled and milled scrolled fence, robustly constructed from large solid timbers. All custom mill work was completed on site.

We are thrilled to have been involved with customers and site that demanded so much from such a small space. The opportunity to explore our creativity and be allowed to complete something this unique for a customer is an experience we will always relish!
