Celebrating the Fall Garden

Saturday September 11, All Day, Seminars at 11 am and 2 pm

 PLANT!  Now is the time to plant your Fall/Winter garden. 1 PM

Tracy at Westwind Gardens and Giselle from Kellogg Garden Products will not only tell you about great veggies you can plant this time of year, but also how to grow using organic methods.  In Portland we can harvest veggies all year long!

CREATE!  See two great fall garden projects that you can create yourself.

Suzette from Twig will show you how to make your own gorgeous wreath ALL DAY.  She uses wonderful combinations of dried and natural elements from the garden!  Cherie from Cedar Glenn Floral (a local grower specializing in annuals and perennials) will be planting up containers featuring Fall Magic™ plants that look great throughout the fall and winter seasons!  11 AM

PLAN!  Fall is the best time to establish a new garden. ALL DAY

Get started beautifying your home with a garden plan.  Dennis’ Seven Dees Planscaper Lara DiLiberti will be giving free 15 minute landscape design consultations!

Tomato Tasting Fesival

Saturday September 18, 11 am to 3 pm

Taste the flavors of harvest time and make plans for next year’s tomato planting! Sample new, heirloom and unusual tomato varieties and vote for your favorite. Learn about year-round gardening – now is the time to plant a fall/winter garden and we have a great selection of edibles and seeds.

Whether it’s warming up before you head out to the yard or rejuvenating afterwards, yoga can help you keep gardening joyfully for years. Our own Jennifer Myers, certified yoga teacher, will lead us in a seminar that is suitable for beginners and enlightening for experienced yoginis.

2nd Annual Holiday Bazaar

November 6 - November 7, 11 am to 5 pm

Celebrate harvest time and get a head start on your holiday shopping with over 40 local craftspeople and artists. You’ll find handmade items including jams, chocolates, jewelry, mittens, scarves, wreaths, garden ornaments, candles, glass and artwork.

  • Live music and refreshments
  • Raffle to benefit local school garden program

The 2010 Portland Ornament Signing & Music

Saturday November 20, 11 am to 1 pm

Betty Woods Gimarelli has designed and produced The Portland Ornament since 1989. Each year, the 24K gold plated 2010 Portland Ornamentornament depicts a view of Portland.  This year Betty collaborated with two renowned musicians, classical contemporary pianist Michael Allen Harrison and concert rock violinist Aaron Meyer, for an exclusive recording to accompany the ornament. Join us for refreshments, violin music and to meet the three artists. CDs and ornaments will be available for signing and purchase.
