Black Bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra)

Black Bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra)

Typically available spring through fall

As the fresh new green culms emerge in the spring they are gracefully accented with beautiful feathery green leaves of this small to mid-size growing bamboo. Within a few years the once green culms fade to a dark rich black leaving you with us with a lustrous contrast of green on black. This favorite here in the Pacific Northwest will typically grow to heights of 10’-15’ and although known as a spreader often ends up clumping and staying somewhat manageable.
